Sangreal is the original By Farr Pinot Noir. Planted in 1994, the vines are Garry Farr's oldest. This age, in addition to plentiful sun exposure, produces a uniquely rich perfume, elegant structure and a complex, dark-fruited palate. Typical of the By Farr Pinot Noirs, this is a wine of utter integrity, multifaceted details and yet an undying, truthful naturalness. As with all great single-vineyard wines, every vintage of the Sangreal seems unique and yet haunting familiar; season and soil in a compelling, annual conversation. 2009 is another chapter. -Ed.
