Clonakilla O'Riada Shiraz 2008

  • Region Murrumbateman, ACT
  • Type Red
  • Size 750ml
  • Alcohol 14%
Clonakilla's flagship Shiraz Viognier is one of the new stars of Australian wine scene. If you want to check out why Tim Kirk's blending of the red and white grapes garners such praise then you can always start with the O'Riada. Shiraz is co-fermented with 6% Viognier to produce a medium bodied wine of delicacy, elegance and true poise. Make sure you give it a good decant if you want to pour it in the next year or two. - JP

 says:

If you’re not a great fan of stalk influence you’ll probably find this wine a touch green. It’s not - it’s cherried and spicy, smoky and very fine through the finish. It’s a wine where the flavours seem to have been picked up and placed into the wine with care and deliberation. It needs more time to grow more comfortable within its own skin, but I have no doubt of its quality - within its style.

 says:

It has cool blackberry and dark cherry fruit aromas and musky viognier lift. The palate's elegant and juicy with vivacious, sweet, ripe dark berry flavour, fine, easy, tannins, mocha-flavoured oak and plenty of drink now appeal.
