Purple Palate

What promise there is in this wine - in what is in this bottle and what is in bottles that are yet to come. Understanding David Franz and his wines is not a difficult task. There is great love in his packaging, in his philosophy and in his wines. This vintage of Shiraz is no exception. Savoury but sweet and rich but tame, soy with eye fillet (medium rare of course) seems to jump out of the glass, with chocolate, blackcurrant and some hints of eucalyptus. The palate continues the theme and the whole experience leaves your palate teased and tempted, so perhaps just one more glass is in order. -SG
