Donny Goodmac Shiraz 2008

  • Region Pyrenees, VIC
  • Type Red
  • Size 750ml
  • Alcohol 13.5%
200 dozen produced and getting stronger each year. In it’s 3rd release, this wine, from the famous Dalwhinnie vineyard, presents itself with great colour and richness. Made from a crop of less than 2 tonnes per acre, it is full of fruit, with a very well integrated use of quality French oak. It’s fragrant and beautifully perfumed – an extraordinary wine at its price point. Lovely, elegant, structured – very satisfying drinking indeed, with a balance of red berries, juicy fruits and lingering finish. -DD

 says:

I watched a YouTube video of a recent Donny Goodmac tasting – and there’s Mr Stuart Gregor (Donny) telling all and sundry that this wine is made from grapes grown on David Jones’ Dalwhinnie vineyard. You learn something every day. A small tasting – but the world is watching. Plush with smooth coffeed oak and plush with fruit. A real crowd pleaser. The fruit flavours are both red and dark berried, there are hints of spice and spearmint, and it finishes juicy and satisfying. Not a lot of tannin, but what is there is fine and ripe. Straight up and down good red-wine drinking.
