Purple Palate

All of the tasting panel were quite surprised to hear that Sangiovese was being grown in the Hawkes Bay region of New Zealand but the grape has been used to good effect here. Strawberries, cherries & marshmallows present a pretty picture on the nose and palate. A slight amount of chewy tannin works well on a finish which is just shy of dry. Fresh and light with well judged acidity which balances the residual sweetness perfectly. Great by itself as a summer drink or with a plate of cured meats- JP
