Purple Palate

Made from the Rhone varietal Rousanne. A heady aroma of lightly-toasted, bubblegum-edged oak, soap, mothballs and split stone precede suggestions of peach, honeysuckle, sticky rice and powdery lemon. The palate weight is terrifically muscular, characterised by restrained stone-fruit. Its profound minerality persists throughout the seamless revelation of mouth-watering spiciness and aniseed notes which reminded me of a grandmother’s little pouch of “Fishermen’s Friends.” - NT
