Glaymond The Distance Shiraz 2006
- Region Barossa Valley, SA
- Type Red
- Size 750ml
- Alcohol 15.4%
The straight varietal Shiraz from Glaymond is probably the winery's most widely heralded wine at this stage. Positively received by the James Halliday, Campbell Mattinson, Houn Hooke and Nick Stock, the 2006 is a textbook example of rich, opulent Barossan Shiraz. Hoe in now or whack some in the cellar. It's all good. -JP

Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
says:Warm and rich but silky smooth too. A rich, red drinker’s paradise. Flavours of tar and dense blackberry, blackcurrant and sandalwood. Quite a bit of warmth, but it has the impact and texture to carry it off. Excellent tannin structure, though it doesn’t intrude on the pleasure. Sweet raspberry notes trail out through the aftertaste, as do toasty oak influences. Excellent.
