Purple Palate

Bright yellow straw in colour, this Pinot Gris was handmade by cheerful New Zealander Dom Maxwell. Fermented in French oak barrels and then aged on lees for a bit, I found stonefruit, pear, lemon and melons on the nose. A most pristine scent of freshly crushed lemon balm leaves filled my glass - this flavour evolving as the wine stretched across my palate. Delightfully rich, toasty, nutty and yet very refreshing. A very delicate spritz. Made from a Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand accredited vineyard. - DJ
