Henschke Tappa Pass Shiraz 2005
- Region Barossa Valley, SA
- Type Red
- Size 750ml
- Alcohol 15%
The Tappa Pass is usually one of the more robust reds in the Henschke portfolio, crafted from 50-year-old vines from the Light Pass sub-region of the Barossa. The 2005 is very much in that mould – deep crimson in colour; an intense nose of plums, violets and chocolate; a concentrated palate of red and black berry fruits. Fruitcake in a glass. -JL

Campbell Mattinson
says:I like this 2005 better than any of the previous releases. It’s thick, warm, chocolatey and perfumed, its black heart driven along by waves of brilliantly smooth, fruity, raisiny flavour. There’s an element of earthy, funky character here but this is the cleanest, purest Tappa Pass Shiraz yet. A wine for those nights when only a huge mouthful of dark fruit flavour will do.
James Halliday
says:An oaky bouquet, but with succulent red berry fruits and a cool spicy edge; quite tannic and rich, with a savoury persistence to the finish.
