Luke Lambert Reserve Syrah 2007

  • Region Yarra Valley, Vic
  • Type Red
  • Size 750ml
  • Alcohol 0%
This is one of the best shirazes I have seen in a long time. No over-extracted/over-alcoholic/over-the-top Barossa monsters here. Luke’s wines are carefully crafted using Burgundian techniques that usually are applied to Pinot Noir such as whole bunch pressing. The result is a wine with vibrancy, finesse and elegance and deliciously perfumed fruit seamlessly melded with savoury, smoked charcouterie nuances. By the way the Reserve is a more intense/complex version with an extra year under its belt. -FW

 says:

It’s peppery and more than a little stalky with mint and liquorice and excellent punchy ripe red fruits - a game of two halves but one that leads to an exciting climax. Medium bodied, dynamic and lithe with fine grained tannin and impeccable line and flow - it’s the structure here that sets it apart from so many other wines - does it have Chi? I think so. Certainly has a sense of tension and energy anyway.
