Massena Looting Duke Barossa Valley Shiraz 2007

  • Region Barossa Valley, SA
  • Type Red
  • Size 750ml
  • Alcohol 14.5%
I’m a fan of the Massena gear – have been for many years, and this extremely limited release has not let me down. It is an interesting blend of Shiraz (88%) and Petite Sirah (12%), otherwise known as Durif – and it works a treat; a complete expose of subtle winemaking. - DD

James Halliday, the Wine Companion
 says:

More purple tinges to the colour than Eleventh Hour, and there is more structure; the mix of blackberry, plum and bitter chocolate is supported by fine, ripe tannins and balanced oak; the alcohol is less overt, too.

Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar
 says:

Opaque purple. Smoky blackberry and blueberry aromas are complicated by notes of cola, licorice and mocha. A big, concentrated palate-stainer but with improbable energy and clarity to its deep black and blue fruit preserve flavors. Velvety tannins add structure and grip to the long, rich and clinging finish.
