James Halliday, the Wine Companion
says:Impenetrable colour; an opulent array of essency black fruits, dark chocolate, mulled spices and mocha; the palate is unctuous, showing deep levels of concentrated sweet fruit, followed by chewy tannins to conclude; a rich wine, perfect for a cold night.
Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh, The Big Red Wine Book
says:It's big and overtly sweet but it has some finesse too. This is a very good wine. It tastes of toast, raspberries, earth and hay, and both its intensity and freshness is quite compelling. For all its power, though, it slides easily through your mouth as you swallow - it doesn't have a lot of tannin, but it has a lot of class. Beautiful, modern Barossa Shiraz.
Nick Stock, Wine100
says:Another step in the right direction for the Massenna project with this juicy, smooth shiraz. The nose is choc-full of black fruits and has a gently spicy, earthy undercurrent. Plently of flesh on the palate and abundant dark berry flavour; smooth tannins roll in through the finish.
Josh Raynolds, International Wine Cellar
says:Opaque purple. Exotic perfume of boysenberry, singed plum, cherry-cola, violet and licorice, with a subtle savory note of olive in the background. Fleshy, palate-staining dark fruit flavors are framed by velvety tannins that fade away on the back end. The floral quality repeats strongly on the finish, which lingers with excellent authority. This saw no new oak.
