Mitolo G.A.M. Shiraz 2007

  • Region McLaren Vale, SA
  • Type Red
  • Size 750ml
  • Alcohol 15%
Made from premium McLaren Vale fruit the wine is inky violet in colour. The nose has hints of blackberry, mulberry, candied plum and smoky spices. Ripe, sweet, dark berry fruit flavours and fine tannins feature prominently in the mouth. There are mulberry notes, a hint of chocolate and a spicy, peppery finish. This wine is already showing very good complexity. It all leads to a concentrated, ripe, layered palate with excellent depth and length. The wine will continue to evolve with another several years of cellaring. -CE

Yes this Mitolo G.A.M Shiraz is big and alcoholic but yes it has a whole lot going for it too. It’s monolithic. It’s tarry and blackberried, brandied and strong, its flavours blasting through your mouth in take-no-prisoners style. What a whopping wine this is. Toasty, cedary oak is woven beautifully throughout but you guessed it, what really sets it apart is its tannin structure. This is seriously well set. Firm, smooth, controlled. Lots of warm length. On a cold night this would be a beautiful wine to pour.

Strong colour; dusty/bitter chocolate aromas lead into a powerful wine which really needs more fruit on the mid-palate.
