Poonawatta The Four Corners of Eden Valley Shiraz 2008

  • Region Eden Valley, SA
  • Type Red
  • Size 750ml
  • Alcohol 14.7%
Literally produced from the four corners of the Eden Valley, you can definitely smell the 'land from whence it came'. Eucalyptus, menthol, oak and wet forest floor scents stand out. A gentle mineral talcum powder-like aroma is very appealing. The mouth raptures suddenly with dense blackberry, plum and cocoa flavours, but it soon boils down to a pleasant melange of ripe purple fruits. I really enjoyed this wine and I feel that it proves the level of elegance that a regional blend can achieve. Depth and intrigue comes from masterful use of oak in the winemaking shed. - DJ

James Halliday
 says:

Extremely ripe bouquet approaching the precipice of confiture, without falling over the edge; essency blackberry fruit, mocha and a mere suggestion of eucalypt; chewy to conclude.
