Shaw and Smith M3 Chardonnay 2009

  • Region Adelaide Hills, SA
  • Type White
  • Size 750ml
  • Alcohol 13.5%
The M3 has become one of Australia's most consistent premium Chardonnays, engendering many of the hallmarks of modern Australian wine. Grown in the cool-climate of the Adelaide Hills, from four different clones, and with partial wild-yeast ferment, it has a lightness and texture quite of its own. In 2009, its typically 'fluffy' presence of light citrus, brioche and nougat evokes citrus tart. Subtle and yet entirely mouth-filling, it finishes with good length and seamless balance, proving that long-lived, modern Chardonnay needn't be austere in its youth, and can, in fact, be an absolute pleasure. -NT
