Stella Bella Cabernet Merlot 2007

  • Region Margaret River, WA
  • Type Red
  • Size 750ml
  • Alcohol 14%
This received the honour of "Best Red Blend" in the recently released 2010/11 Big Red Wine Book by Campbell Mattinson and Gary Walsh. We were all pretty darn impressed by it at our tasting panel too. Blackberries, cigar & general leaf, gravel and black olives marinated in herbs. All of this is shot through with redcurrants. Plush yet completely centered. Excellent Cabernet tannins extends through a very long finish. Quality French oak adds texture and chocolate. Regional, expressive and serious - not to mention very delicious. It's the whole package and the price is right. Cellar some if you can, it'll get even better. -JP

James Halliday, the Wine Companion
 says:

Fragrant and pure black and redcurrant aromas lead into a precise, beautifully structured medium- to full-bodied palate, with emery board tannins drawing out the finish, as does cedary oak; very good line, length and balance.

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh, The Big Red Wine Book
 says:

Fabulous. Seems to flood flavours into every corner of your mouth. Chocolate, earth, gravel, blackcurrant, redcurrant and swerves of lovely oak. Medium-bodied, dry and savoury with earthy, firm, fine-grained tannins. Walsh described it as a wine of 'grinningly good proportions'. A bloody good wine all over.
