Thorn-Clarke Shotfire Shiraz 2008

  • Region Barossa Valley, SA
  • Type Red
  • Size 750ml
  • Alcohol 14.5%
This is a meaty, delicious and fruit-driven Shiraz from the Barossa Valley in South Australia. While it's won a serious number of medals, awards and accolades - it was the liquid in the glass that caught my attention. Elegant fruit flavours and aromas of currant, raspberry and blackberries fill the wine out. Dry, savoury oak treatment keeps the fruit in line (sometimes Barossan fruit flavours are 'naughty' and develop too voluptuously). Not so in this case - an excellent Shiraz that winemaker David Clarke can be proud of. Definitely a good food wine. -DJ

James Halliday
 says:

Good colour; full-bodied, with plenty of sweet fruit and sweet oak on the bouquet and palate; typically complex, with strong tannin and oak in support.
