Purple Palate

Wantirna Estate is one of a handfull of the truly iconic, tiny production wineries in the Yarra Valley. The Lily is a singular Pinot Noir for the region, built with weight, texture and invariable ripeness. In 2009, a difficult vintage in much of the Yarra, Wantirna's distinct site has proved resiliant, producing a wine of typical muscularity, silkyness and length. Ripe red berries, dark floral notes, spice, and dewy leaves define the profile of a Pinot with firm structure, serious texture and energy. Its rich, savoury centre holds exotic spice, herbs and cured meat, and its tannins are unashamedly present, promising longevity. -NT
