Heathvale Wines

Image of Heathvale Wines

Heathvale Wines is a family owned, run and developed enterprise situated in Keyneton SA - within the idyllic Eden Valley.

This area is ideal for the development of grape colour and full varietal flavour while maintaining the balance of sugar and acidity in all kinds of grapes.  The Eden Valley is higher and consequently cooler than the Barossa Valley floor, allowing for a later harvest and a better opportunity to produce grapes that won't suffer from sunburn.

William Heath bought this property in 1865, built a house and established a vineyard.  Wine was initially made in the cellar of the house and production continued until the 1920’s when it was phased out in favour of growing fruit to manufacture and export dried apple rings and apricots.

In 1986, Trevor and Faye March became the owners of the property, taking up residence in the original house.  A year later they re-established the vineyard and since then, the growth of Heathvale Wines has been marked by steady, small developments.

A fully functional winery was constructed in 2008 enabling Heathvale Wines to takeover the winemaking which had previously been outsourced.  Recovering complete control of the wines from the start to finish will enable Heathvale Wines to continue to develop and grow their business.  There is an element of excitement surrounding the future of this winery and critics have exclaimed how much they are looking forward to sampling future vintages of Heathvale wines.

Heathvale wines reflect the character of the land that was tilled by William Heath and his family so very long ago.  They are rich in flavour, well structured and balanced with an understated elegance.  - Daniel Jess
